The senior management of the world's two largest flower auctions – Aalsmeer Flower Auction (V.B.A.) and FloraHolland – will be coming to the 18th "Agro-Mashov" International Agriculture Expo to inaugurate the merging of the two exchanges. The ceremony will be held in the Tel Aviv Fair Grounds on January 9-10, 2008. While the merger goes into effect on January 1, 2008, the "Agro-Mashov" 2008 Expo will provide the exchanges' representatives with a platform for explaining to growers and buyers the advantages of the new union. For example, in addition to increasing the exchange's profits, the cost of its services to growers will be significantly reduced. The "Agro-Mashov" International Expo is an annual event that attracts growers and buyers from all over the world, and for this reason was chosen as the showcase for presenting Holland's flower exchange merger. The new flower exchange – now named "FloraHolland" - will offers its clients a network of six auctions: Aalsmeer, Naaldwijk, Rijnsburg, Bleiswijk, Venlo, and Eelde, as well as an import division and offices for BB (round-the-clock) business deals. The new FloraHolland's annual sales are predicted to reach 4 billion euro, with profits topping the 10 million euro mark. The new exchange is predicting a 3% climb in sales. 4700 workers are currently employed at FloraHolland and all of the senior managerial positions are staffed. The decision has been made to invest 400 million euro over the next five years in operations related to the propitious merger.
